PINT Web Development Team Showcases Stellar iPhone Site Adaptation

Posted:
April 8th, 2009 – San Diego, CA

2008 saw the number of mobile phone users who access the internet rise to almost 600 million. Juniper Research predicts that by 2013, the number will almost triple to 1.7 billion. A quarter of iPhone users use the device instead of carrying a laptop. Saavy companies are realizing that compatibility with mobile browsers is no longer optional.

Nationally recognized Web agency PINT is answering the challenge with sleek, optimized versions of corporate sites that work beautifully on the iPhone and other mobile devices.

David Sanchez, Director of Business and Client Services says, “Our clients want a fully-functional version of their corporate web site custom-tailored to the mobile user. They want to take advantage of the unique features, such as iPhone’s portrait to landscape viewing flexibility… and they want make the transition quickly.”

Developing for the iPhone is not just about making a smaller interface:
  • PINT designs lightweight pages that ensure quick loading times and minimize user frustration.
  • Rather than forcing users to remember a separate mobile web address, PINT sites identify the user’s browser and deliver the mobile site when appropriate.
  • Pages and images are sized for full-screen display on an iPhone to take advantage of its unique multi-touch screen and zoom features.
  • A custom shortcut icon consistent with your branding is created for use on the iPhone’s home screen.

Rob McFarlane, Creative Director says, “Something like 40% of iPhone users report trouble displaying websites. Websites not optimized for mobile also result in longer load times, creating a barrier for visitors. The solution is a mobile-compatible site, something we’ve been doing for quite some time with great success.”
