PINT Launches Redesigned Campus Web Site for University of San Diego

Posted:

PINT has released a redesigned site for the University of San Diego (www.sandiego.edu). This project required an extensive pre-development research phase to ensure the new site would meet the needs of a diverse group of stakeholders.

One critical redesign goal was to accurately portray the image of USD as a quality private education provider. USD had challenges common to most large educational universities, including logically structuring deep content for access by very different audiences such as students, faculty, employees, alumni, media and the general public. The site had grown organically from individual departments and as a result there was no design consistency between departments; most departments also lacked the ability to update content quickly.

PINT developed the site with sophisticated visual imagery that reflects the physical beauty of the campus. Audience based navigation, quick links and an alphabetical index are among the many user aids developed to quickly sift through the extensive site content. The new site features content management tools that allow different departments throughout the campus to update content such as jobs, news, events, FAQs, and contacts.

"We're delighted that the initial response by the campus has been so positive," said USD Vice Provost and Chief Information Officer David Todd. "We've had very enthusiastic feedback from throughout the campus community as well as from alumni and friends who have visited the site," added Todd. "The support and guidance of our contracted designer, PINT, Inc., and particularly that of David Sanchez, a 1998 USD alumnus, were invaluable during this design and implementation."
