The conference focused on the potential use of XML (Extensible Markup Language) in the electronics industry, and how it could be used to improve site searching and automated information exchange between electronics manufacturers and their customers.
Powell's presentation, XML and the Electronics Industry, examined case studies in the electronics industry, including several leading companies' changing attitudes towards general Web technologies, unrealistic industry expectations regarding XML, and XML's potential short term use as an aid in site structuring.
